Chapter 02 Mid-Century Mode
Midcentury Mode explores the structured confidence of 1950s and 60s design. Graphic geometrics, rhythmic repeat and saturated yet grounded colour. Mustard, rust and softened olive sit against chalky neutrals, creating contrast that feels deliberate rather than loud. Pattern is used architecturally here; it shapes the room, establishes tempo and anchors the atmosphere.
This chapter is about composing with clarity. Strong forms are balanced by tactile weaves, matte grounds soften bold lines, and repetition builds cohesion. The result is expressive without excess, a layered, social ease. Soho House sensibility, where design feels considered, confident and enduring rather than nostalgic.
There is a particular freedom in composing with this era. It allows contrast without chaos and statement without excess. Structured forms are balanced with tactile weaves, matte grounds against graphic overlays. The result feels grown-up and atmospheric, a Soho House kind of ease -where design is expressive yet grounded, social yet intimate, timeless rather than nostalgic.
